Thank you for your interest in the City of Lakes AmeriCorps program!  Our application for the 2018-2019 program year will be available in early February. Before you apply, please take time to explore this site to learn more about our program and see if we are a good fit for you.

City of Lakes AmeriCorps is one of the oldest AmeriCorps programs in the Twin Cities. For more than 20 years our members have served the youth of Minneapolis as tutors, out-of-school enrichment leaders, and positive adult role models who inspire youth to reach their full potential. City of Lakes members serve in middle schools throughout the Minneapolis Public Schools district providing academic support and after school enrichment opportunities for long-term English Learners. Our members engage and empower students in their English language development through intentional interactions, research-based strategies and youth development best practices.

Our ability to support the academic and developmental needs of our students depends on the relationships members build with their students, which is at the heart of all that we do. Our members gain unparalleled hands-on experience working with students, teachers, families, and fellow corps members. They serve as a cohort of emerging leaders who focus on developing their professional and interpersonal skills while exploring the fields of education and youth development within the context of a large urban school system.

Please take a few minutes to explore our web site and read about the specific benefits our program has to offer, as well as the service role for our AmeriCorps members.  If you decide to continue with the application process, be sure to read over the process and application instructions. It will give you a clear idea of what to expect along the way.

Thank you for your interest in City of Lakes AmeriCorps!
